Welcome!

The field of robotics has experienced tremendous growth over the last decade. Autonomous driving in rural and urban environments has been demonstrated. A viable and sustainable household robotics market is forming in the US including applications such as vacuum cleaning and lawn mowing.

Many technologies that were developed for and flourished in other industries such as automotive and aerospace have played a critical role in the recent progress of mobile robotics. Many companies in the state of Michigan that focused on automotive applications have found potential in contributing to the budding mobile robotics industry.

The University of Michigan has a long and proud tradition of world-leading research and education in the area of ground vehicles design, control, and manufacturing. The establishment of this Master of Engineering degree is the first step in our commitment to become a key player in the field of mobile robotics and autonomous vehicles.

We have established a strong curriculum by leveraging our research and educational strength in artificial intelligence, controls, power and propulsion systems, manufacturing, and quality and reliability. Courses are offered by faculty members from six departments-which makes our curriculum one of the most comprehensive in the country.

I thank you for your interest in this innovative degree program. We look forward to working with you to move the new and exciting robotics industry forward!
